Team Edo women’s forward, Favour Enodumwenben, has praised her teammates following her sensational hat-trick on the opening day of the football event at the Niger Delta Games | Edo 2026.
The clinical striker was in unstoppable form as Team Edo thrashed Team Akwa Ibom 6–0 in a dominant display that set the tone for their campaign.
The Idia College Girls High School, Benin student opened the scoring in the 10th minute with a composed finish, doubled the lead in the 17th minute, and completed her hat-trick in the 53rd minute to seal an emphatic victory for the hosts.
Speaking after the match, Favour hailed her teammates for the remarkable performance.
“I must thank my teammates and the whole team for their support. Without them, I wouldn’t have been able to score these goals,” she told NigerDeltaGames.com.
She also expressed confidence in the team’s ambition to go all the way.
“We will keep working hard so we can win the gold medal,” she added.
Team Edo will now face Team Delta in their second match on Saturday, February 21, as they look to continue their impressive run in the competition
